Nail tech Review

6/21/2018

I have been on the hunt for YEARS for a great nail tech. Its been a struggle let me tell you. I have one nail tech that I have tried that I feel may be the best yet.

I live in Brooklyn New York. I have tried google to try and find a nail salon that does what im looking for which is,
  1. Different nail shapes example coffin, stiletto, oval, square etc..
  2. Hand designs
  3. Gel polish
  4. And good reviews
There was no real way to tell which nail salons actually did what I was looking for through google. The nail salons would pop up but 99% of them do not have websites. Im going off of client reviews and pictures but most of them are dated back 2 to 3 years ago.

I switched my hunt from google to Instagram. I was able to actually see salons current work  and see if they can do what im looking for.

I will list the places I found with reviews below starting with my current obsession Rating from 1-5, 5 being the best .

4.5
Tiny (@tiny.luxury)
2117 Flatbush Ave Brooklyn NY 11234
She has a station in B
obbi Luxe Hair Salon.
$45 deposite required
** New Location**

One thing I loved right off the back, besides her work which looks amazing, is the fact she has set prices.
In her bio there is a link to make an appointment

https://tinyluxury.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php
In that link she has her set prices along with some rules she has set. You do have to leave a deposit and it is non refundable which she explains in her site.

She did a full set and her own design (option I chose)  which took 4 hours, yes I said 4 hours, but they came out beautiful, so detailed and precise. Her technique is different from what I was used to, she pinches the nail to get a nice formed shape, usually places I have gone to have never done that, but I liked her technique.

My second appointment was the same. Took 3 hours but the end result was beautiful.

Now, the reason im giving her a 4 out of 5 is simply because at the time there was no real way to become a permanent client. She would open her appointments every 25th of the month at 9 am.  Basically if you didn't set your alarm you were not getting an appointment.

Now she is taking emails tinyluxurynails@gmail.com and requesting
  • Pictures of your nails
  • Are you looking to be serviced regularly or on occasion
  • Any skin conditions or allergies to certain beauty products
  • Day/Time interested in
She will be choosing if she wants you as her client. Which is all good and well, after all its her business.

But hands down one of the best techs out here in Brooklyn.

Nails On 7th (@nailson7th) nail tech- Jenny
She has two locations in the Bronx- Fordham and Harlem

$30 deposit is required .

I went to Jenny 3 times. My first appointment with Jenny was in her Fordham location. I had an 11 am appointment. I got there about 10:50 am, she was not in yet. I waited until 11 and still no Jenny. I text her and she respond, shes on her way. About 25-30 minutes later she walks in. I tell her hi, im Amy. She says hello, she never apologized for making me wait which irritated me but whatever. She starts putting on a full set, whatever acrylic she uses BURNED MY NAILS. They felt like they were on FIRE. Eventually they stopped burning but I was like WTF (to myself). Then on top of the burning she kept hitting my skin with the machine. I was bleeding which you can see in one of the photos. I really liked the design she did, besides her being late,my nails burning  and making me bleed the design and shape was pretty good. She did leave a lot of acrylic around my nails as well.  On top of the $30 deposit I ended up paying about $90- $100. That price was basically the same for all 3 appointments. So total coast per visit was about $120- $130. She posted 2 of my nail designs on her page. I checked back to get a photo for this blog and I realize she put, thanks for coming from LA??? You can see me comment (@amysantana_delacruz) saying thank you . I'm from Brooklyn. So im going to assume that not all her customers that she thanks are coming from far distances.

Out of the 3 appointments she was only on time for one and that was only because she had a customer before me.
